How to Care for Your Permanent Jewelry

So you got welded. Welcome to the club.

Permanent jewelry is designed to live on your body — through workouts, swims, showers, and everything in between. That's the whole point. But a little basic care goes a long way toward keeping your piece looking its best for years to come.

Here's what you need to know.

The good news first

Both sterling silver and 14k gold fill are low maintenance by design. You don't need special solutions, fancy polishing cloths, or a jewelry box. Wear it. Live in it. That's what it's there for.

What's totally fine

Showering — go for it, every day. Swimming — ocean, pool, river, lake, hot tub — all good. Sweating — working out, hiking, running, climbing — no problem. Sleeping — you'll forget it's even there. Layering — stack multiple pieces, mix metals if you love it.

What to avoid

Harsh chemicals. Bleach, cleaning products, and heavy-duty chemical soaps can dull the finish over time. If you're scrubbing a bathroom or dyeing your hair, it won't hurt to rinse the chain after.

Chlorine in large doses. The occasional pool swim is completely fine. Daily laps in a heavily chlorinated pool over months can gradually affect the finish. Rinse with fresh water after extended pool sessions and you'll be golden.

Abrasive materials. Rough scrubbing directly on the chain can scratch delicate links over time. Wash around it, not over it with a harsh loofah or exfoliating cloth.

Keeping it shiny

For most people, wearing your jewelry daily is enough — the natural movement polishes the metal. If you want to give it a little refresh, a soft cloth or a gentle rub with your fingers after a shower is all it takes.

Sterling silver can develop a slight patina over time — some people love that lived-in look, others prefer to polish it back. A jewelry polishing cloth from any drugstore will bring the shine right back in seconds.

What if something goes wrong?

Chain feels loose or breaks? Bring it to any Moxie event and we'll re-weld it for you. No stress.

Want to remove it? A clean pair of scissors or wire cutters will do it safely. And if you want it back on, you know where to find us.

Permanent jewelry is meant to be the easiest thing you own. Wear it everywhere, think about it never, and let it become part of you.

That's the Moxie way.
